Colorado Ski Trips You Can’t Miss

admin May 21, 2014

Group ski trips to Colorado are one of the most frequently cited reasons for visiting the great state of Colorado. Colorado has some of the most expansive natural preserves in the United States, with plenty of slopes ripe for hiking, skiing, snow shoeing, or snow mobiling. Here are some of the most popular ski trips in Colorado.

Aspen

Aspen is an unbelievable experience. The site has 94 different trails for any skill level, with 3,300 acres to play within. Visitors can take snowcat rides through slopes and pastures, or hit a hiking trail with snow shoes. Group ski packages include a trip on the Silver Queen Gondola, which offers an amazing view that takes you over 11,000 feet into the air. For those looking for the extreme experience, ski the Highland Bowl. You can also hit the pipes on Buttermilk, with a 22 foot super pipe that has been featured on X-Games.

Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain receives roughly 280 inches of fresh snow each year, which makes for prime skiing during the day. The slopes close at night, but there are plenty of attractions for families with children and college groups looking for an after party. There are several shopping centers in the area, as well as places for fine dining and a few bars. The best feature is the close proximity. Everything is just a short walk from your lodgings, which also put you close to the mountain itself. Copper Mountain is smaller than Aspen, there are still 2,400 acres that cater to any skill level.

Crested Butte

Spread across 1,000 acres of land, the Crested Butte ski resort in Colorado features courses specially tailored for beginners. The Crested Buttes are perfect for families, as there are several ski slopes and hiking trails available for those who don’t want to exclusively hit the powder. The area also has workshops, where friends and family can learn the basics of skiing.

Steamboat

Steamboat is known for its “Champagne” powder across an entire mountain range. It boasts a range of activities for skiers of all levels. You can hit the slopes of Thunderhead Peak or Mount Werner, skiing a new experience everytime.

Final Thoughts

Colorado’s ski slopes are tailored to new and advanced skiers. Resorts are also full of entertaining possibilities. It’s no wonder so many families, churches and colleges choose Colorado as their vacation destination.
